Explain how physical security contributes to network security.

Thumbprint lock to access the network server. So, to change anything on this server, you must get through that door. The wall and roof has 4X normal level of rebar. It is also inside the locked and alarmed office. So, what does that do for the security of things?

It prevents compromising communication channels and point of access for the networking equipement. Without physical security potential attacker could wire-tape communication or execute man-in-the-middle type of attack, as well as bunch of other more sophisticated ones.
