Why earth contain elliptical shape?

Where did you see this question? Or it´s just a questioning?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There are no other forces acting on it except gravity*. Here is a good Equation for Gravity: \[Strength of Attraction =\frac{ Earths Mass * Suns Mass }{(Distance Between the two) ^2 }{Some Constant G [N*(m/kg)^2]}\] Since the denominator of this equation is the square of the distance between the two; not just the plain old distance; weird properties emerge. One of which you just observed; elliptical orbits happen; not circular as some might guess. -What does this mean in the broader sense of things? Don't rely on you're intuition alone when studying physics; save that weak stuff for Economics
