why not gamma? they have the max frequency no? so max energy.....

You are correct but they are harder to capture and convert to heat the efficiency is very low and the energy while great for a photon is counteracted by the reduce number that can be generated. For example a cobalt-60 source of 5000 curies very strong. surrounded by a lead shield very thick to absorb the gamma rays heats the shield as if a 60 watt (and estimate) light bulb were placed in the shield.
