When constructing an inscribed polygon with a compass and straightedge, how should you start the construction?

Step 1: draw a circle of suitable radius
Step 2: (in order to draw a triangle) take the compass fitted with pencil. Now place the pointer of the compass on the circumference and intersect two distinct points say P, Q, R on the circumference of the same circle. In this way we have obtained three points on the circle.
Step 3: Now with the help of scale and pencil draw segments PQ, QR and PR. So your inscribed polygon is ready.
