Simon and his friends are standing on a bridge. Simon's friends gently toss pebbles off the bridge. In contrast, Simon throws a pebble straight down. Which of these graphs best represents the velocity of Simon's pebble as a function of time (t), with t = 0 representing the moment that the pebble left Simon's hand?

I'd say the last one. The pebble would have a Vo different than zero as it leaves Simon's hand, and then gravitational force would accelerate it to go faster still.
