I pulled the waterlogged cardboard box labeled ‘Halloween’ in messy Sharpie down from my basement’s unfinished plywood shelves. It landed with a satisfying thump, and an organ began to play with a witches laugh in the background.  I chuckled, nostalgia rising from my childhood.  The noises were probably from some automated toy, the kind that would scare the crap out of me as a kid.
