Adaption is usually referred to in biology as the changing of a genome (all the genes) in order for an organism to survive better in its environment. Acclimation is sort of a learnt behavior in which an organism doesn't change its genes in order survive better in its environment.

The difference between adaption and variation is that variation could be trait that may make an organism survive worst in its environment. While adaption is a positive trait.--> Not really sure about this though.
