medal and fan for best answer help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 In your own words, explain what is accomplished by factoring. include a sample problem in which you factor a monomial from a polynomial.
Please give this problem a stab on your own and then show your work and ask for feedback on it. Asking for answers and promising rewards for "best answer" is not appropriate on OpenStudy.
okay....
I'd really like to help you, and will respond positively to any appropriate question you post.
To help you get started: What's a monomial? What's a polynomial? What would it mean to "factor a monomial out of a polynomial"?
Think about why we factor regular numbers into primes, or why we represent matter as a composition of atoms. Matter and numbers can be very complex and representing them as a sum of the basic building blocks that underlie all of them can reveal deep relationships between them. Polynomials are in fact always reducible to a product of what are known as "prime polynomials" polynomials that cannot be reduced further, just as numbers are reducible to a product of prime numbers. Think about why we like dealing with prime numbers.
