Can someone please guide me along to do this problem Point A, located at (-8, 3), is the location of the storage closet and point C, located at (12, -4), is the director's office. Find point B, the location of the art supplies, if it is (2/5) the distance from point A to point C.
would I multiply the points and then divide by 2/5 I am a bit confused I would appreciate help thank you
lol it's you again sorry I am proving how horrible I am on everything involving math
it is okay :) i think in here we will get the distance between a and c
then cut it into 5 parts and find the b point
Okay that doesn't sound to bad so we would multiply A and C or subtract them and the divide it into 5 parts? is that even close... i'm trying to base it off what we just did but sometimes there are formulas and thats when I get stumped
|dw:1393807384612:dw|
Okay :o
|dw:1393807534266:dw|
so I fill in mx2+nx1 with B
the points of B
m=2,n=3 x1=-8,y1=3 x2=12 y2=-4
here denominator is m+n=2+3=5
So I would fill it in as X= mx2+nx1/m+n 2x2+3x1/2+3
\[x=\frac{ 2*12+3*-8 }{ 2+3 }=\frac{ 24-24 }{ 5 }=\frac{ 0 }{5 }=0\] similarly find y
Okay I will try one second thank you
