Parallel to the line 7x + 9y = 45; containing the point (9, 2) I came up with 7x - 9y = 81 but Im not sure

Rick, if you have two parallel lines, their slopes are equal. the coefficients of x and y, which are 7 and 9, will stay the same. Thus, take 7x + 9y = 45; delete the 45 and then substitute the coord. of the given point, (9,-2). What do you get?

Thanks that's all I needed to be sure of

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Hopefully, you got 45. This question is a bit goofy because the "solution" is the given line itself. Nothing changed!

Excuse me! Ricki, not Rick.
