Love is many different things.  It really depends on the type of love, or you can do a poem about the types.  For example, the love of a parent can include punishment and reward for a child.  If they did not care, they would not do these things.  The love of a sibling can be hard to see when they fight a lot, but attack one and both may respond because of the love between them.  The love of a good friend can also be expressed in being there in times of need.  The love of a companion, the other half, can be even deeper still.  so you could pick any of these and expand it or a selection and contrast them.
