Why did Constantine move the capital of the Roman Empire?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First of all the city at first was not called Constantinople. It was New Rome and before that Byzantium. The major reason that made Constantine to move the capital to Byzantium was because the Western part of the empire was becoming militarily vulnerable and he wanted the capital to be in a safer part of the empire.
