The FIRST settlers were horrible people. They would killed and steal from the natives, had a religion war with them, and then gave them smallpox!
Nothing good came out of it for the natives. Some books would sugar-coat it and tell you otherwise but that is NOT the case.
I would feel disgusted, in my opinion.
