what is MEMS technology & what is its use in present & future????

MEMS: Micro Electro Mechanical System. In simple words, electrical and mechanical action done in micro level. Thought of motors in micrometers!!!. One example is MicroTweezers (for current usage of MEMS) which has mechanical action of holding nerves/veins controlled by some microampere current. Those instrument can't be seen through naked eye but has mechanical movements.

MEMS are every where. Do you use smart phone. They generally employ an IMU sensor which is an MEMS based sensor for detecting motions. When you rotate phone, screen orientation also changes, this is done by sensing the rotation from this IMU sensor. I work on UAVs , we do use MEMS based sensors for navigation. These are very compact, consume low power and cheap. This is only one application. There are tons of applications.
