Find the value of x. Round to the nearest tenth. The diagram is not drawn to scale.

OpenStudy (nikato):

SOH CAH TOA. Which will you use?

OpenStudy (shadyykatie):

I forgot what SOH CAH TOA means!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

SOH = Sine equals Opposite over Hypotenuse CAH = Cosine equals Adjacent over Hypotenuse TOA = Tangent equals Opposite over Adjacent.

OpenStudy (nikato):

Oh ok. Here's to refreshing your memory http://www.mathwords.com/s/sohcahtoa.htm

OpenStudy (shadyykatie):

Will we use CAH = Adjacent over Hypotenuse?

OpenStudy (nikato):

Correct. So your whole equation by pluggin in your values is cos(22) = x/11 Multiply both sides by 11 11 x cos(22)=x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

11 is the hypotenuse and x is the adjacent so we know we will use CAH cos(22)=X/11 11cos(22)=x x=10.199

OpenStudy (shadyykatie):

@EducateMe Yes i just got the same answer! So is that all i need to do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (nikato):

Yea. But round to nearest tenth so 10.2

OpenStudy (shadyykatie):

oh ok @nikato Thank you so much for your help! I wish i could reward you both with medals but it only allows one.

OpenStudy (nikato):

No problem. And it's ok. I medaled Ed
