it's asking how many ways can you measure length. For example, there are feet, inches, miles, meters, kilometers, etc etc. Each individual kind of length is different, but they can all be converted between each other. For example:

1 foot = 12 inches
1 mile = 1600m
1 km = 1000m

and so on
