Solve. |5x + 5| < 10

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

absolute value inequalities work like |a| < b makes a < b and a > -b so |5x + 5| < 10 makes 5x+5 < 10 and 5x+5 > -10 solve each separately :)

so what would be the answer ? x < –1 or x > 3

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

mmm I don't thing that's what I got you might have mixed up the negatives? I got x<1 or x>-3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

these are the only ones A. x < –3 or x > 1 B. –3 < x < 1 C. x < –1 or x > 3 D. –1 < x < 3

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

–3 < x < 1 "x < 1" "x>-3" is like -3 < x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so c?

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):
