Whats the difference between solving an Equation and a Inequality?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the only difference in the method is that if you multiply or divide by a negative number you have to change the sense of the inequality but how you solve one depends entirely on what it looks like

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you do not solve \(x^2-2x-1<0\) the same way you solve \(|x+3|>1\) or \(2x+3<5\) for example each one requires a different method
