a set of data with a mean of 245 and a standard deviation of 8.3 is normally distributed. Find the value that is +1 standard deviation away from the mean.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

soo ... mean + 1(sd) they give you the mean and the sd ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean the answer that they have on here is a.)28.4 b.)53.3 c.)36.7 d.)45.0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm, they prolly want the probabilty associated with 1sd from the mean

OpenStudy (anonymous):

otherwise none of that makes sense :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i believe so cause thats all its tell me and i dont get it

OpenStudy (mrnood):

nope - 1 sd has 34.1 % of population. @blackasian Have you written question properly? is the mean 24.5? (Still wouldn't make sense - but I think you have not got the full info in your question...)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, 68/2 is an approx or something like that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i have a typooo , it was the mean of 45 not 245

OpenStudy (anonymous):

45 8.3 ----- 53.3 then adding them makes sense lol
