Use the graph of favorite types of movies to solve. What is the ratio of the number of people who prefer comedies to all people surveyed? A.9/20 B.9/11 C.11/9 D.20/9 http://static.k12.com/calms_media/media/1417500_1418000/1417678/1/5c4d4da5573ae83462b3d2ce6ec81f749ce727f7/FGA_130917_261001.jpg

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

So add all the numbers together 200 + 360 + 160 + 80 = 800 365/800

OpenStudy (opcode):

Take your graph, look at all the numbers add them together. \[360+200+160+80=\dots\]\(=800\) people total surveyed. According to the graph 360 out of 800 people like comedy. \[\dfrac{360}{800}\Rightarrow \dfrac{9}{20}\] I simplied \(\dfrac{360}{800}\) to \(\dfrac{9}{20}\).

so who should i give the medal to you both explained it and got the same answer

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

Narrowing it down look for the GCF (greatest common factor) they can't both be divided by 2 or 3, what about 4? Nope go to 5 So 365/5 = 73 800/5 160 so 73/160 those can both be divided by 8 so 9/20

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

give to Opcode xD

OpenStudy (opcode):

Give to whoever explained it best. It doesn't matter to me, I don't work for medals :-).

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

Exactly...
