Use Pythagoras' theorem (The square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the square of the other two sides) 12(squared) = 6(squared) + x(squared) etc... root (144-36} by pythagorus = root 108 = 10.39 sqrt(12^2-6^2)= 6*sqrt3=10.392
