Which point lies in the solution set for the following system of inequalities? y < x + 4 y < -2x + 2

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

y < x + 4 y < -2x + 2 you have answer choices ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A) (2, 3) B) (0, -5) C) (0, 5) D) (1, 0)

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

sub the answer choices into the inequalities and see if they satisfy them... (2,3) y < x + 4 3 < 2 + 4 3 < 6 (true) (2,3) y < -2x + 2 3 < -2(2) + 2 3 < -4 + 2 3 < -2 (incorrect) not this one, because it has to satisfy both inequalities. (0,-5) y < x + 4 -5 < 0 + 4 -5 < 4 (correct) (0,-5) y < -2x + 2 -5 < -2(0) + 2 -5 < 2 (correct) BINGO....found it. (0,-5) satisfies both inequalities
