what is the midpoint of a segment whose endpoints are (-4 6) and (2 5)

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Do you know how to find the average of two numbers? For example, what is the average of 8 and 12?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

To find the average of two numbers, add the numbers and divide by 2. The average of 8 and 12 is (8 + 12)/2 = 20/2 = 10. To find the midpoint of a segment, find the average of the x-coordinates of the endpoints, and find the average of the y-coordinates of the endpoints. Those two averages are the x- and y-coordinates, respectively, of the midpoint.
