WILL MEDAL or FAN what's an outlier? 6th grade math help!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a piece of date that is so different than the rest that it will throw off the mean (Average) of the data set. ex) 5, 6, 3, 4, 894 894 would be the outlier.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

An outlier is a value that "lies outside" (is much smaller or larger than) most of the other values in a set of data. Like if you had a set of data as 6, 7, 5, 8, 6, 25; 25 would be the outlier of the data.
