Well, you would have to draw another 5 triangles that look exactly the same as the first in a row after that first triangle which doesn't seem as practical as drawing a circle.

Drawing a circle and then moving around it a compass without changing its angle would get you a nice regular hexagon. If you don't want a regular hexagon, just draw it line by line(without any helpers), no one will care.
