OpenStudy (toribyrd33):

A segment with endpoints F (4, 9) and G (7, 2) is divided by a point H such that FH and GH form a 1:3 ratio. Find the y value for H. a)6.75 b)7.25 c)8.25 d)5.75

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, since 1:3 is 4 parts, divide the distance of the ys by 4 and add it to Fy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or subtract 3 of them from Gy ... but that just seems like more work to me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

another idea, find the midpoint of the midpoint .... Fy+(Fy+Gy)/2 ----------- 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, my first idea would have to subtract from Fy since its larger the Gy but it works with that adjustment :)
