Sharon is 42 years old. Her daughter is 12 years old. How many years ago was Sharon 4 times older than her daughter?

I got one idea try to follow this.... try to decrease one year from daughter and multiply with 4... first.... daughter's age is 11 then 11 *4 =44 then (wrong) now daughter's age is 10 then 10*4 = 40 (correct) then we can say that before 2 years Sharon is 4 times older than her daughter
