1. Examine the following drawing. Show the sum of the areas of the four smaller rectangles and the sum of the area of the large rectangle. In your own words, explain how they are related and why this is so.

Area of rectangles(A+B+C+D) =3x+7x+x *x +7x \[=3x+21+x^2 +7x = x^2 +10x+ 21\]

can you explain how they are related and why this is so

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Area of the larger rectangle = (x+7)(x+3)\[=x^2 +3x+7x+21 =x^2+10x+21\] Therefore from the two results we can say that: Area of rectangles(A+B+C+D) =Area of the larger rectangle
