HELP ! ASAP PLEASEE A trapezoid is drawn on a grid with vertices at P (-5, 7), Q (-2, 7), R (2, 3), and S (-8, 3). Trapezoid UVWX will be drawn similar to Trapezoid PQRS with side UV corresponding to side PQ. The point (2, -2) will be the location of vertex U and point (8, -2) will be the location of point V. What will be the coordinates of vertex X? Show all your work or explain your reasoning.

OK let's do this.
can you help ??
We know that the new trapezoid is exactly the same as the previous one.
Now to find X, consider Q of the trapezoid PQRS. Its at (-2,7) and its distance from the base of trapezoid PQRS is therefore (7-3) = 4 units.
okay so 4 would be one of the corrdinates
Similarly, for the new trapezoid UVWX, the base is at -2 (its y co-ordinate). Since the distance of the top from the base is 4 units, what do you think the Y co-ordinate of X would be?
2 ?

Since the base is at -2 for UVWX, the top would be (-2-4) = -6. Get it?
yeah i get it
so my answer would ne (4,-6)
Great! now you have the Y co-ordinate. Now the X co-ordinate of point X would be the same as that of Q (since it corresponds to x). So your answer would be -2,-6
Awesome thank you so much !
No problem, if you got more queries, post 'em here! :-)
i will thank you again!!
Here is a graph that shows both trapezoids. notice the 2nd trapezoid UVWX is twice as big as the original PQRS
