perhaps there is an elegant way to select the correct answer for this question, but I'm afraid we'll have to grind out solutions, not just for the given equation, but also for at least some of the possible answers. I did that; it took 2-3 minutes. First, let's solve the given system of equations. We could use either elimination by substitution or elimination by addition/subtraction. Which would you prefer to use?
