OpenStudy (factor):

Suggestion to Mods and Admins... I would like to suggest all authorities to hire more mods for seperate sections only so that catching trollers spammers and anusers can be easily caught and corrected what do u think as more moderators r offline nowadays

OpenStudy (ja1):

Mods do not grow on tree's my friend.

OpenStudy (factor):

and most of them r busy most of the time

OpenStudy (ja1):

If they did, we would have chaos

mathslover (mathslover):

They are doing their best and I don't think that we need more mods *currently*

OpenStudy (factor):

i knw miss preeta can observe some ppl and choose sectional mods

OpenStudy (factor):

SECTIONAL have only power in tht section

OpenStudy (ja1):

Humans are unpredictable, especially internet ones, it's not easy....

OpenStudy (factor):

yjeir main aim is to lookout for spammers abusers etc in tht section

OpenStudy (factor):

Its only a suggestioon dont take it serious guyz

mathslover (mathslover):

They also have their family and jobs for which their hired. Group Mods existed earlier but now there is no requirement of group mods . New Batch of Ambis has just been announced and I think, these ambis may be asked to take care of particular groups/sections though they will not have any power but still they will be the reliable ones to inform mods about any thing wrong going on in a particular group.

OpenStudy (factor):

but wht if most of th mods r offline at tht time also

mathslover (mathslover):

In that case, community suspension works. If a limited no. of users report a user then the user will be automatically suspended for a particular time period.

mathslover (mathslover):

As a group of users like 5-6 (min.) can not be wrong (99%) , so community suspension works well.

mathslover (mathslover):

Also , it may be like the mods are not online at that time but if you just report the guilty one then the mods will automatically get the mail about this report and they may come online like a SUPERMAN! :P

OpenStudy (factor):

i knw all mods r supermans TATDATATATa

OpenStudy (factor):

no but still having sectional mods might increase security

OpenStudy (factor):

for os wht do u think @Destinymasha

mathslover (mathslover):

Oh! Annas, he was a very good friend of mine. You can report this to the mods and mods will do whatever seems suitable at that situation. Thanks for your concern for OpenStudy! Keep Suggestions coming but slowly ... :D

OpenStudy (destinymasha):

I honestly think OS is fine --trolls and spammers are.....ummmm.....inevitable --they are doing their best :} [mods]

OpenStudy (factor):

wht do u think @thomaster

OpenStudy (factor):

the opinion can be negative or positive guyz it s just a suggestion from my side

OpenStudy (pixiedust1):

I don't think we need any more mods. The mods we have do a great job. And this is OpenStudy, not some high-security prison.

OpenStudy (destinymasha):

mhmm......I agree :}

OpenStudy (factor):

i knw the mods r doin the best.ive experienced it.but when mods r not online u cannot always depend on community to report.as most of them r wid trollers

thomaster (thomaster):

like 70% of the activity on OS is in the math group. What if you assign a group mod in biology, (s)he can only delete/close questions and delete chat comments and questions answers. If these group mods spot spammers in another section they can't do anything about that. So if there were group mods assigned, they should be able to moderate all sections. Group mods cannot warn/suspend of IP check users. I think this would be a good idea to test with the new ambassador program in the future. It has already been suggested before by the way. Also special chat moderators have been suggested.

OpenStudy (factor):

the first time i joined i thought os ws more of a fight site than a study site as when i looked into all chats it was like full FIGHTS

OpenStudy (factor):

i go wid sir @thomaster

OpenStudy (factor):

ya even i thought of chat mods but then i thought every 1 would curse me 4 suggestin it

OpenStudy (factor):

as they woulkd be monitored

OpenStudy (factor):

@Preetha miss what do you think

OpenStudy (opcode):

No the amount of moderators are good enough, nearly all the trolls here are non-creative. Rather they should simply automate the system of catching these trolls, instead of changing a swear word to be censored if the swear word is said enough times the troll account should get an auto ban. Automation is the best choice for OpenStudy. Automate it all.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

the current mods are doing their best!! maybe they take sometime to respond to some complaints because they get a lot of reports daily....and even though u increase the no of mods...they cant just be looking for trollers everywhere....they are also here to help people and would mostly do that first!

OpenStudy (factor):

no automation is not good......even the innovent might be put into ban

OpenStudy (factor):

they they odnt have to look for trollers every where like hw sir thomaster said they can introduce chat mods for each subject and my opinion was sectional subject mods as they will monitor only those subjects specifically

OpenStudy (factor):

@beccaboo333 to day i handed over one troller to mods

OpenStudy (factor):

even though he was my best frnd i handed him over to mods

OpenStudy (factor):

@e.mccormick i did wht u told i switched of router nad turned it on.hes gone.

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

It wouldn't matter, what if those mods didn't come on for a week? That section would go crazy. It's better the way it is. We do our best in the OpenStudy community to keep trolling and wrongful behavior from happening. All the mods get the same abuse reports, most are handled. Very well actually. If you'd like trolling and so on to stop, I'd recommend you learn the rules of OpenStudy inside and out. Do your part in helping us keep OpenStudy the way it's meant to be. Even basic users have say to us all. Moderators are constantly flooded with false reports, real reports, spammers, and actually helping users. They volunteer for this position (after being asked of course). They do ultimately try their best every single day for us. Moderators being as busy as they are on here, do have outside lives. So appreciate what's been done so far. As for us Ambassadors, we basically are the welcoming committee. But we can also help influence the rules on others. Ambassadors can be seen frequently in the chats also trying to help keep them in order. It's never an easy process for anyone. As for this post, we really do not need to have more moderators added in sections. The sections are different every single day for people's use. One day it could be trolls in just English, then another day have them all be in say History. This is why we have OpenStudy the way it is. Also, that's good you reported it. Trolling/Misusing is never allowed on here. Thank you for doing that.

OpenStudy (factor):

adding more trusted users as mods would help os when other experienced mods are offline...like now itself to report tht troller i was serachin for a mod no 1 was there atlast only @e.mccormic mod helped me out

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

They tried sectional mods. Did not work. We need some new tools, but it takes time to get those developed and they focus mostly on trying to get the stability better.

OpenStudy (factor):

no they could keep chat mods ........in chat only trollers come and troll

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

There would be no point in having a chat moderator. What if none came on for weeks at a time? The chat would be way to out of control.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Actually, I suggested they give Ambassadors the ability to do 15 min and 1 hour chat bans.

OpenStudy (factor):

no way thts impossible.cuz even me being an average user op

OpenStudy (factor):

opens openstudy after 1 hour each

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

I'm sorry, what?

OpenStudy (factor):

i am an avergae user but still i open os after each and every hour

OpenStudy (factor):

wait brb in 5 min

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

Many users do, but there still is no need for sectional moderators or chat moderators.

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

What we have has been working well. I do feel like that giving ambassadors those abilities will help out too.

OpenStudy (factor):

okay im closing this post

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's back stabbing @factor just to let you know! I say stuff to my friends and never abuse anyone! More over I am old user of OS and alot more familiar with it's rules and regulations. I remove comments but just for your info mods and ambis can see deleted chat history. Secondly I dont even know you! so try avoiding back stabbing it'll be better for a friendly environment and if I do wrong kindly report me. If a mod finds me guilty they will act accordingly. So avoid back stabbing and let the mods do their job. I think they are doing pretty good with their jobs.

OpenStudy (factor):

i knw dat ijust mentioned u as a example.....never told ur one spammer

OpenStudy (factor):

and im really srry anna

thomaster (thomaster):

I suggested (some) ambi's as chat mods a long time ago, I still think it's a good idea. They should be able to delete chat messages, kick people from the chat and issue chat mutes (so people can't use the chat for some time). Also global group mods would work. Just like group mod but for every section. Only difference between a real mod is that they can't issue suspensions or warnings. Only kick, mute, delete & close/bump/edit questions. That way we can create some sort of pecking order, like \(\Large \bf\color{#FF22FF}{admin} \\\Large \color{#872af0}{super\ moderator}\ \normalsize (like\ the\ current\ mods) \\\Large \color{#0099FF}{moderator}\ \normalsize (global\ group\ mods) \\\Large \color{#872af0}{ Ⓜ\ }ambi\ mod \ \normalsize (ambi\ +\ chat\ mod) \\\Large \color{#872af0}{Ⓐ\ }ambassador\)

OpenStudy (ja1):

@thomaster Well hopefully now that we have someone to implement these things they can actually get done.... along with these... *pulls out to-do book* all 314 pages worth!

OpenStudy (factor):

okay so you will be introducin group mods

OpenStudy (factor):

pls how do i delte tis post

OpenStudy (factor):

@thomaster hw do i delte my own post

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

You cannot delete your own post. Only moderators can. If they feel it is necessary.

mathslover (mathslover):

Thomaster, you have really got some awesome ideas. I really appreciate them.
