One string of a certain musical instrument is 75.0cm long and has a mass of 8.77g . It is being played in a room where the speed of sound is 344 m/s. To what tension must you adjust the string so that, when vibrating in its second overtone, it produces sound of wavelength 0.761m ? (Assume that the breaking stress of the wire is very large and isn’t exceeded.)

hmm u need to use at least a couple of formulas here if not more.. do you know where to begin?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ive tried using v=sqrt(tension/(mass/length)) and v=lambda frequency

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the second part requires to find the frequency which is the only thing i dont have. i feel i could find the tension if i had the frequency
