The midpoint of a line segment with end points as (x, 4) and (-2, -2) is (2, 1). What is the value of x? x = 6 x = 4 x = -3 x = -2

OpenStudy (btaylor):

\[midpoint=\left( \frac{x_1+x_2}{2},\frac{y_1+y_2}{2} \right)\] We know X1=-2, and the x-value of the midpoint is 2. So, 2=(-2+X2)/2 --> 4=-2+X2 -> X2=6

Oh yeah, I forgot about doing that...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=6
