help!! for f(x)=|x| +4 , find f(x^2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@bibby

OpenStudy (bibby):

Does it have any special instructions? I think you'd just plug in the x^2 everywhere you see an x in the original equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x^2+4

OpenStudy (bibby):

|x^2| + 4. if you're interested in the graph, check this out: http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=%7Cx%5E2%7C+%2B4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you, can you help me with another problem

OpenStudy (bibby):

yeah, post another question and tag me in it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its number 9 in the pdf file

OpenStudy (bibby):

or post it here. You're supposed to have a different question for every problem but idc

OpenStudy (bibby):

http://www.mathwarehouse.com/algebra/relation/vertical-line-test.php Can you draw a vertical line anywhere on the graph that would hit the curve two times?

OpenStudy (bibby):

two or more times*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isn't it supposed to hit once

OpenStudy (bibby):

It's /supposed/ to hit once. "if a vertical line intersects the relation more than once, then the relation is a NOT a function."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so they are both functions?

OpenStudy (bibby):

Yeah.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you
