Two college teams, A and B, are playing a game of tug of war. Team A applies a force of 103 newtons, but the rope does not move in any direction. What can you say about the force applied by Team B?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The force applied by team be is equal to the force applied by team A because the rope is not moving lol

what about his oneA 52-newton bird feeder is tied to a cord, which is attached to a tree branch. Describe t he tension force of the rope. :(

OpenStudy (btaylor):

Do you know how to draw a free-body diagram? If there is no net acceleration, then the forces must cancel. The tension in the rope is supplying that force that holds it up.
