I'm wondering what YOU think.  This text is from the Declaration of Independence (of the United States from England).  One could state that "the purpose of this Declaration was to announce that the USA would henceforth consider itself independent of Britain."  But there's another, more specific, phrase that says essentially the same thing.  Can you find it?

I'm wondering whether there were several answer choices that came with this question.

The second and and last one don't seem like it and I think its the third one because  they're stopping segregation. @mathmale

I agree with your eliminating the second and last possible answers.

woohoo>  it's not segregation, but separation.  So look at the 1st and third possible answers and pick the one you think is better.  Remember, the phrase you pick has to fit in perfectly with the intent and meaning of the original passage.
