at least post the question .

OpenStudy (i_love_my_nieces):

Determine whether the sequence is arithmetic, geometric, both, neither. 16, 8, 4, 2 . . .

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

What do you think ?

OpenStudy (i_love_my_nieces):

A?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

What is done to each term to get the next term?

OpenStudy (i_love_my_nieces):

Arithmetic.

OpenStudy (i_love_my_nieces):

?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

what do you do to go from 16 to 8?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

and to then go from 8 to 4?

OpenStudy (i_love_my_nieces):

Minus.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

16-8 is not equal to 8-4

OpenStudy (i_love_my_nieces):

OK

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

\(\large \begin{array}{ccccccll} 16&8&4&2&...\\ \hline\\ &\uparrow &\uparrow &\uparrow &\uparrow \\ &16\cdot \frac{1}{2}&8\cdot \frac{1}{2}&4\cdot \frac{1}{2}&... \end{array}\)

\[\huge\color{blue}{ 16~~ \text{___}~~=8 } \]\[\huge\color{blue}{ 8~~ \text{___}~~=4 } \]\[\huge\color{blue}{ 4~~ \text{___}~~=2 } \]

OpenStudy (i_love_my_nieces):

?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

look at the blue above. try to fill the blank in such a way, that would work for each equation.

OpenStudy (i_love_my_nieces):

A: 8 B: 5 C: 2

OpenStudy (i_love_my_nieces):

All are minus

OpenStudy (i_love_my_nieces):

@SolomonZelman

OpenStudy (i_love_my_nieces):

@SolomonZelman

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

All options are minus, like a) -8 b) -5 c) -2 like this?

OpenStudy (i_love_my_nieces):

No that is the answers to your question

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

nvm, lets just start over. Determine whether the sequence is arithmetic, geometric, both, neither. 16, 8, 4, 2 . . . you can get from 16 to 8 in a couple of way. 1) 16 - 8 = 8 or 2) 16 / 2 = 8 you can see that subtracting 8 from each term to get the next, is not how THIS series works, right?

OpenStudy (i_love_my_nieces):

Both

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Do you know what "geometric series" and "arithmetic series" mean ?

OpenStudy (i_love_my_nieces):

No

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Do you know what a series is?

OpenStudy (i_love_my_nieces):

Nope

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I would suggest to open up a new question about what "series", "geometric series" and "arithmetic series" are. I am running out of time and can't help more; sorry.

OpenStudy (i_love_my_nieces):

Is It A?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

it is none of your options, because you DO NOT SUBTRACT n this series. I am done, have no time.... Good luck ;)

OpenStudy (i_love_my_nieces):

Is it s arithmetic, geometric, both, neither?

OpenStudy (i_love_my_nieces):

@iambatman and @undeadknight26

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

Well solo said :it is none of your options, because you DO NOT SUBTRACT n this series. so im guessing neither.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's neither.
