What is the factored form of these expressions? I'm a little lost on how to do these x^2+3x-18 and 3x^2+15x+1
x^2+3x-18 (x+6)(x-3) and second you'd have to do with the quadratic formula i think
how did you get that? could you show me so i understand ?
Think of factors of -18 and pick the two factors whose sum is +3
for the first equation, all you have to do is ask the question: which 2 numbers, when multiplied, will give me -18 and those same 2 numbers, when added, will give me 3? or, to all equations: which 2 numbers, when multiplied, will give me ac and those same 2 numbers, when added will give me the sum of b?
The second one is prime.
i understand the first one but not the second.
@dg98 @Mertsj
oh for the second, normal factoring will NOT work, so you're gonna have to use the quadratic formula, and you would get 2 answers because 1 square root actually has a pos an neg answer
Could you work through it with me?
