Solve four t equals one point two for t.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

4t = 1.2 Since we want t alone, and t is being multiplied by 4, we do the opposite operation which is divide by 4. We must do the same operation to both sides of the equation. 4t/4 = 1.2/4 t = 0.3 Now we can check our solution. We replace t with 0.3 in the original solution and see if we get a true statement. 4t = 1.2 4(0.3) = 1.2 1.2 = 1.2 Since 1.2 = 1.2 is a true statement, the solution t = 0.3 is correct.
