Can you guide me through this question? Which of the following has a graph that is wider than the graph of y = 3x² + 2? y = 3x² + 3 y = 0.5x² + 1 y = –4x² – 1 y = 4x² + 1

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

if you compare the graphs of ax^2 and 0.5x^2 the effect is to make the first graph wider

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

* 0.5ax^2 I should have said

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

study an article about transformation of graphs i'll try and find a site for you

Thanks!

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

yww

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

f(x) ----> af(x) is a stretch of factor a parallel to the y-axis so if x < 1 then this is the inverse of a stretch and the graph widens
