Do you mean what they used to bomb Japanese cities? Instead of conventional bombs, they decided to use incendiaries because most of the houses and buildings in the cities were made out of wood. They did it mostly to cripple their manufacturing base -- a lot of smaller businesses and factories were housed in urban areas supporting the war effort.
