What period of history refers to the time when people did not leave written records? A. medieval B. prehistory C. modern D. ancient

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Prehistory. Once people started leaving written records, we had something to use to keep track of history. Before that, there was nothing (except archaeological evidence). Therefore, it was prehistory. Obviously it wasn't modern, since that is the most recent period of history. The ancient era occurred from roughly 2000 BC to the fall of Rome. People were leaving plenty of written records back then. The Medieval era was from the fall of Rome to about 1400. Again, there are plenty of written records from that time.
