OpenStudy (anonymous):

a.) The median number of emails received by people of group A is higher because of the absence of an outlier. b.) The median number of emails received by people of group B is higher because of the presence of an outlier. c.) The mean number of emails received by people of group B is higher because of the presence of an outlier. d.)The mean number of emails received by people of group A is higher because of the absence of an outlier.

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

the outlier 200 affects the mean of group B... causing the mean to be higher than necessary

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so wouldnt it be c. becuse you said the mean would be effected but the median wont @campbell_st

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

thats correct,,, the mean with 200 included is 223/11 without the outlier the mean is 23/10
