Factor 360t + 10t 3 - 120t 2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My first thought is to remove what is common in both terms ...with that you should be able to see this much better with smaller number so what is highest common term in all three terms?

once you determine the highest common term - rewrite what is left in the parenthesis in the proper order.

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

the greatest common factor is 10t

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First get the equation in simplest form

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then write them in proper order ( with the terms raised to 3 first , then 2 ...)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct...now what is left for each term when you remove 10T from each

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

so we have 10t(t^2 - 12t + 36)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now factor what is in the parenthesis...that should be very straight forward

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

now you need to factor the expression in the parentheses

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

the factors will be of the form ( t - a)(t - b) where ab = 36 and a + b = -12 note a and b might be the same number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think i understand now so the answer would come out to be 10t(t - 6)2 correct?

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

right on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct...I hope you understand!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank You (:
