Need help solving for X

OpenStudy (anonymous):

post ur question lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops sorry I rushed u mybad should have waited im sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so r there any multiple choice answers if not I believe u use pythegaerm theorem which I got 28

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I took 15^2 and 24^2 so it looks like this \[c ^{2}=15^{2} + 24^{2} = \sqrt{801} = 28\]

OpenStudy (nikato):

no. thats not right. you dont know if any angles are right. so you cant use the pythagoereom theorem. all you have is an angle bisector

OpenStudy (anonymous):

explain it then

OpenStudy (nikato):

so you would actually solve using a proportion based on the angle bisector thoerem so x 24 -- = --- 9 6 you can start to solve for x by cross multiplying

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 36?

OpenStudy (nikato):

cross multiply 9(24)=6x 216=6x divide both sides by 6 x=36
