OpenStudy (anonymous):

For which system of equations is (5, 3) the solution? A. 3x – 2y = 9 3x + 2y = 14 B. x – y = –2 4x – 3y = 11 C. –2x – y = –13 x + 2y = –11 D. 2x – y = 7 2x + 7y = 31

OpenStudy (shamil98):

Input (5,3) , x= 5, y = 3 into the equations and see which ones work.

OpenStudy (shamil98):

I can pretty much see which one it is just by mental math, but that's about what you have to do, see which one fits.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it's b or c?

OpenStudy (shamil98):

neither. don't guess..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OHHHHHHHHHHH Its AAAA

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Really? 3(5) +2(3) = 14 in your world?

OpenStudy (shamil98):

input facepalm here.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

You have to test ALL of the equations to make sure your solution works. It is possible to have a "solution" which works in some, but not all of the equations. There's a technical term we like to use for those solutions: "wrong" :-)
