The radius of a circle is 9 kilometers. What is the area of a sector bounded by a 132° arc?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(theta/360) * pi * radius^2

Convert to radians first. Then, plug it into the formula; (1/2)*(r^2)*theta. If you have trouble remembering this, try using it to find the area of a full circle(where theta would be 2pi) (1/2)*(r^2)*(2pi)=pi*r^2--which is what we expect. The answer should be around 93 square kilometers.
