Need some explanation on this problem from my book. I understand the part when they used the conservation of energy. I'm confused with the part about the velocity. They used the x-component of the initial velocity because it will not change throughout the motion, so \(V_{ix}=V_{fx}\). But then on the next step, they subtract this x-component of the velocity to the given velocity.. why is that? problem attached below
