Determine which relation is a function. A. {(–5, 1), (–5, 0), (–2, 1), (–1, 4), (6, 2)} B. {(–5, 1), (–2, 0), (–2, 2), (3, 4), (6, 2)} C. {(–5, 1), (–2, 0), (–1, 1), (2, 4), (6, 3)} D. {(–5, 3), (–2, 0), (–1, 2), (6, 4), (6, 3)}

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Any candidate which couples the same value of x with different values of y is not a function.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

For example, this is not a function: {(1,1),(1,2),(2,3),(3,4),(4,5)}

OpenStudy (pixiedust1):

Yup! For example... (5, 2), (5, 3) This is not a function. The x value (in this case, 5) can't be "equal" to both 2 and 3.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh i see now, thanks(:

You're welcome! :)
