3x+4y=104
2x+3y=73

2a + 3c = 73 --->(-3)

6a + 8c = 208 (result of multiplying by 2)
-6a - 9c = - 219 (result of multiplying by -3)

-c = - 11
c = 11
now sub 11 in for c in either equation to find a
3a + 4c = 104
3a + 4(11) = 104
3a + 44 = 104
3a = 104 - 44
3a = 60
a = 20

check..
2a + 3c = 73
2(20) + 3(11) = 73
40 + 33 = 73
73 = 73 (correct)

Adult tickets (a) cost $ 20
Child tickets (c) cost $11
